Introduction
extendedReach now supports passkeys as an additional sign-in option. A passkey is a secure way to sign in without using a password. Instead, your device uses built-in security features such as Face ID, fingerprint scan, or a device PIN to verify your identity.
Passkeys provide:
- More secure sign-in protection
- Faster access to the system
- No passwords to remember or reset
The setup process includes two parts:
- Initial passkey registration
- Signing in with your passkey
Once registration is complete, you can use your passkey to log in going forward.
Prerequisites
- You must have an active extendedReach username and password
- You must have access to a supported device with biometric authentication or PIN security enabled
Initial Registration for a Passkey
- Go to the extendedReach login page and enter your username and password.
- Click the Create a passkey checkbox.
- Click Sign In.
- The passkey setup dialog box will appear automatically.
- Click Create a passkey.
- Confirm your identity using your device security method such as:
- Fingerprint scan
- Face scan
- Device PIN
- Choose where to save your passkey:
- To use your Windows device PIN, select Continue
- Otherwise, select "Change", then choose iPhone, iPad, or Android device to use a mobile device
- If using a mobile device, scan the QR code displayed on the screen using your mobile device.
- Follow the prompts on your mobile device to save the passkey. (Note – this device will now be required when you choose to log into extendedReach using the passkey you just created).
Once this setup is complete, your passkey will be saved on your device and will be used to log in to the extendedReach system.
How to Log In with a Passkey
- On the login page, click Log in with passkey.
- Approve the sign-in request using your device security method you previously setup. (i.e. Face ID on mobile devices, Windows Machine PIN, etc.…)
- You will be signed into the system without entering your password.
Using a New or Different Device
- If your devices are synced through your browser or mobile account, your passkey may already be available.
- If your passkey is not available, sign in using your username and password first and then create a new passkey on that device.
Is My Data Safe?
Yes. Your passkey never leaves your device, and extendedReach does not see or store your biometric information.
Need Help?
- If you cannot use your passkey, you can still log in using your username and password.
