Introduction
This article will walk you through the process of configuring home and program reports and activities to:
- Require approval/Remove approval requirement
- Have an optional second approver
- Require two, three or four approvers
- Customize approver labels and designate approvers based on role or name
Prerequisites
An extendedReach User ID with one of the following user permissions:
- Full Administrator
- Restricted Administrator - Forms Administration
Overview of Approval Settings
Setting | Function |
Requires approval | Requires an activity or report to be approved by a user before it can be completed. A user can be selected from a drop down list by the performed by user filling out the activity or report (the field is defaulted to the users supervisor).The selected approver can then go in and approve or reject the activity or report. |
Provide option for second approval (advanced) |
Requires an activity or report to be approved by a user before it can be completed and gives the option to check “Require two approvers” on the activity or report and select a second approver. The approvers can be selected from a drop down list by the performed by user filling out the activity or report (the fields are defaulted to the users supervisor). The selected approver(s) can then go in and approver or reject the activity or report. The activity or report will show on the first approver’s task list. After being approved, it will then show on the secondary approver’s task list. |

Require fourth approval (advanced) | Requires an activity or report to be approved by four users before it can be completed. A user can be selected from a drop down list by the performed by user filling out the activity or report (the field is defaulted to the users supervisor). The selected approvers can then go in and approve or reject the activity or report. The activity or report will show on the first approver’s task list. After being approved by the first approver, it will then show on the second approver’s task list. After being approved by the second approver, it will then show on the third approver’s task list. After being approved by the third approver, it will then show on the fourth approver’s task list. |
Custom approvers and labels (advanced) | Allows for the label for an approver to be customized and for the approvers to be preselected by either role or name for an activity or report for any of the above settings. |
